It has been exactly 9 long years since Lesley Gore died in New York on February 16, 2015 at the age of 68. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.

Born Lesley Sue Goldstein in New York on May 2, 1946, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Gore was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
