Remembering Lino Ventura, 37 Years Later

It has been exactly 37 long years since Lino Ventura died in Saint-Cloud on October 22, 1987 at the age of 68. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Today, fans of Lino Ventura (Les Misérables, A Pain in the A..., The Great Spy Chase, Monsieur Gangster, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Ventura, a cultural icon

Born Angiolino Giuseppe Pasquale Ventura in Parma on July 14, 1919, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Italian history. Ventura was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1964 he touched the hearts of millions as Francis Lagneau in ‘The Great Spy Chase’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 37 years since the tragic loss of Lino Ventura and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Lino Ventura is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
