It has been exactly 42 long years since Patrick Dewaere died in Paris on July 16, 1982 at the age of 35. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Dewaere, a cultural icon
Born Patrick Jean-Marie Henri Bourdeaux in Saint-Brieuc on January 26, 1947, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Dewaere was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
