Is the 85-year-old monarch officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, 85, and her partner had split up. Is the Danish monarch really single again?

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark spotted alone

A fan spotted Queen Margrethe II of Denmark walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of March 17, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Margrethe back on the market?

A rep for Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the monarch was splitting hit the internet Wednesday (March 18), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
