The iconic and legendary screenwriter turns 77 on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.

Christopher Guest is celebrating his 77th birthday today. As a number of online tributes attest, he is one of the most acclaimed screenwriters of his generation.

Popular screenwriter-musician-composer-actor-comedian Christopher Guest (Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, ...) has always liked to keep a bit of himself hidden from view. At 77th birthday, he remains a man of many facets.

Guest, a cultural icon

Born Christopher Haden-Guest in New York on February 5, 1948, his career spans an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Guest's not just a great screenwriter, he's an inspiration, an icon and a successful business man. At this point in his career, there seems to be little Christopher hasn't done.

And we've got a feeling the next 12 months are going to be even bigger and better for Christopher Guest as he promises more to come. After all, he's only 77.
